Uruguay becomes south american champion

Uruguay won the South American Championship beating Paraguay 3-0 this Sunday. Diego Forlan scored twice and Luis Suarez once helping Uruguay to be crowned South American champions for a record 15th time. Suarez scored four goals in this tournament and he was selected as the best player of the tournament. He said they have played as a group and that he thought when groups were united like that, everyone together and going for the same thing, you could get things done.

This was a surprising championship. We saw how Brazil and Angentina, two of the best world teams, were sent home early although Argentina has won the title 14 times and Brazil eight.

Students on hunger strike

Twenty students went on hunger strike this week. Villegas, spokesman for Liceo A-131, claimed the objective of the hunger strike was the renationalization of copper to finance education. Pamela, one of the students on hunger strike at Liceo Dario Salas told La Tercera that they decided to be part of this because there hadn't been any solution and it was a way of creating greater pressure.

Lots of students are showing their feelings about this educational system. We've seen hundreds of people going on march in protest over our educational system and in support of the free transport pass.

Government spokesman said strikers could be assured that the government was fully dedicated to improving the quality of our education.
